The Phoenix Retreat Self Catering Disabled Access Holiday Bungalow is close to many of North Devon's Gardens such as RHS Rosemoor and Tapely Park

For hundreds of years, gardeners have been taking advantage of Devon's mild climate, with its sun and gentle breezes. More recently, were also taking care to protect endangered species. But dont just take our word for it, come and see the results for yourself!

Rosemoor Gardens

If you are looking for inspiration and a relaxing day out, come to RHS Garden Rosemoor and stroll around our enchanting 65-acre garden. Rosemoor is a garden of intoxicating beauty, meticulously crafted and planted, retaining the essence of rural North Devon within a dramatic backdrop of steep wooded valley sides.

Whatever the season, the exciting colours, scents and textures mean that all your senses will be stimulated, and with both formal and informal gardens - as well as woodland walks, water features and open spaces - there is something for children and adults alike to enjoy time and again.

Arlington Court

Arlington Court is an unexpected jewel: a complete family estate. The intimate Regency house contains treasures for all tastes, from model ships to shells, all collected by the Chichesters. Offering incident and contrast, the 19th-century picturesque garden is a perfect place to explore, picnic or play.

The walled kitchen garden provides fruit and vegetables for the tea-room and flowers for the house. The tranquil estate, abundant with wildlife, includes an ancient heronry. The Carriage Museum in the stables, has a vehicle for every occasion from cradle to grave. Our working horses and carriage rides keep the story alive.

Knightshayes Court

One of the finest surviving Gothic Revival houses, built in the lush landscape of mid Devon, Knightshayes Court is a rare example of the work of the eccentric and inspiring architect William Burges. Built for the grandson of pioneer lace-maker John Heathcoat in 1869, the house is an exciting architectural experience, with extraordinary 'medieval' romantic interiors, rich decoration and ceramics.

The vast garden, which was the Heathcoat Amory family's great passion, is renowned for its rare trees, shrubs and seasonal colours. The restored and fully productive organic kitchen garden is a treat for everyone who enjoys local produce. Note: access may be restricted during early spring and winter.

Tapeley Park

a view of tapely park terraceTapeley Park is a stately home situated near the coast in beautiful North Devon. Between Instow and Bideford, Tapeley park has lots of attractions for all the family. Take a look in our Park and Gardens section and see what we have to experience.,/p>

Tapeley Park differs from many similar parks because we are trying to be environmentally friendly, you can have a look for yourself in our Sustainability section. Also Tapeley Park has events throughout the year.
