About Phoenix Care At Home Domiciliary Care Agency

The domiciliary care agency was set up in April 2006, by Carol Earner and Carol Swann who are the Directors of Phoenix Care At Home.
The agency was rated excellent by what was then known as CSCI (now (CQC) Care Quality Commission. CQC inspection report was rated Outstanding in September 2016.
The service we offer enables people to maintain their independence, and to support live-in family carers, by assisting with a full range of care to suit the individuals needs. We also take clients to Doctors/hospital appointments, or on outings. We have a Wheelchair Adapted Vehicle which we use with no charge to our clients apart from mileage, which is charged at 45 pence a mile.
The service can be purchased through Direct Payments or Privately. We cover a small area of North Devon, to include Braunton, Croyde, Georgeham and parts of Barnstaple. We can also provide care to adults staying on holiday in the areas we cover in North Devon, or alternatively, at our Phoenix Retreat, which is a 4* disabled access bungalow situated in Braunton. Phoenix Care At Home welcomes comments and suggestions regarding the service we provide, and we encourage our clients to be involved in the running of our service. There is the opportunity for clients to sit in on staff interviews and to join in at staff meetings. We have held various lunches and parties at Phoenix Retreat for our clients, where staff and clients can get together for a fun afternoon.
We monitor our quality assurance by asking for feedback from new clients, very early into their care package, by filling in a quick survey satisfaction questionnaire, along with an annual questionnaire for all clients to fill in. We also know all our clients personally, and see them regularly, or when we provide their care along with our support care team.
We aim to provide a high quality and professional service at all times. Therefore, we have a clear complaints procedure in place and ensure clients feel able to complain so that we can continue to learn from our mistakes and ensure the best possible practice continues.
The office is open from 9.00am to 3.00pm Monday to Friday - closed for lunch from 1.00pm to 2.00pm. The phone number is 01271 816577. We also have an out of hours emergency number which is 07814814409, should you need to contact us more urgently when the office is unattended. You are also welcome to come and visit us if you would prefer. Our address is 2 Caen Shopping Centre, Braunton, North Devon, EX33 1EE. We have a ramp available to gain access to the premises should you require.
We also offer a handyman service for small jobs that need doing in our clients homes. This is a non profit making service.
Our wheelchair access vehicle was purchased through fund raising and client donations. The vehicle is for the use of Phoenix clients and their families, to enable clients to go out, or to take clients to appointments etc. The vehicle is free to use but mileage is charged at 45 pence a mile, and if a carer was required the carers time would need to be charged.
